Ok, no haters, but we’re finally back from our Florida excursion to Longboat Key island, which is off the golf side, near Sarasota. We had an AMAZING time. When we arrived, the girls and I raced through the condo, exploring each room, and all you could hear was little squeals of delight. The furnishings in the condo were very nice, slight Caribbean feel without overdoing it, good solid woodwork, comfy beds, clean baths. The grounds of the condo were immaculately landscaped – tons of gorgeous greenery and flowering shrubs, including a bird of paradise bush that I fell in love with. We quickly scooted outside to explore our beach and were just as excited. Natural sea grass skirted the entire length of beach, and the white powdery sand was met by gorgeous emerald green water. Little pockets of sea shells still remained on the beach from the last high tide.
After a quick trip to the local Publix grocery store, well ok, there was nothing quick about that shopping trip, we donned our beach ware and headed out for some sunshine. The next week was well-spent taking long walks on the beach with the hubbie, Hailey and Regan, collecting shells, early morning jogs, bikerides, sunbathing, swimming in the bath-water-warm pool with Regan, watching TV shows I never even knew existed, and eating as much junk food as we all wanted too (lent is over – YES!)
Don’t you love vacations? The whole family just seems to get along better (minus the drive to and from destination). Cares are shrugged off for those precious few days. It’s so awesome to just wake up, don a bathing suit, and basically do nothing the entire day. Deliciously wasteful.
