Wedding Bliss

Megan has held a special place in my heart for the few years I’ve known her – in fact, her whole family is pretty special to me.  For anyone that attended Hailey’s 16th Birthday Party, Megan was one of the 16 honorees.  Saturday I had the honor and privilege of photographing her marriage to Jason Young.  For all of you fellow wedding photogs out there – you know how the morning-of  jitters can wreak havoc on your nerves, but as I drove over to the mother-of-the-bride’s home to capture a few ‘hair & make-up’ shots of the girls, I felt like I was amongst family and couldn’t be more relaxed and excited about the days events.

It goes without saying that Megan and Jason absolutely adore each other, and, not to sound corny, but it’s obvious to friends and family that they truly complete each other.   And, for anyone that knows these two – they LOVE their horses and probably everything about the traditional Old West lifestyle, so when I heard their theme was Country Western, it couldn’t have been more apropos.

This DIY crew worked over 13 hours just setting up the reception hall for the couples special day, and it couldn’t have turned out better!  Picture straw bales & saddles *everywhere*!  Picture a custom-made bar, complete with bull horns, ranch-style, made by the groom himself.  The delicious cake, baked by one of the brides sister, was elaborately decorated with a leather-eske fondant – the custom cake stand was old barn wood with barbed wire. *awesome*  The entire wedding party donned cowboy boots, including the bride.  Wild flowers in barn wood flower boxes adorned each table… I could go on.

Anyway, we had a mini-shoot at the couple’s farm in-between the ceremony and reception.   Here’s a few post-ceremony & farm sneak-peeks!  Enjoy!

Thanks! Yes, Megan definitely wanted that ‘Western’ sepia look for a few of these types of shots. I haven’t even sifted thru all of them yet but I think she’ll be pretty tickled with the finals. We (the bridal party) were an hour late to the reception! he he

Oh my gosh!! They are some of THE best pictures I have ever seen of a wedding. I, too, love the shot on the steps. Outstanding job. (And congrats to the lucky couple).ReplyCancel
