Newborn Bundle of Love | Newborn Photography

She called me up about two weeks before she was due, requesting a maternity shoot.  As our conversation unfolded, I knew I had  to make room in my calendar, and quick!  Time was against us at this point, and, I could tell that she was the type of client I adore – the one who loves the idea of doing something fun and creative during the shoot.  Also, from the sounds of it, for a maternity client who was 38 weeks prego, she was extremely comfortable and still very active.  I was completely stoked about our shoot.  The next day I was at Jo-Ann Fabrics picking out some cool fabric for our shoot – the creative juices were flowing!

The morning of our session, Joanna called me with the news that she had to go to hospital to get checked out, she thought her water had broke and her doctor wanted to check things out.  With a hopeful tone in her voice, she suggested, “Maybe later this afternoon we can get together for our shoot, or one day this week?”  (She wasn’t 100% convinced she was in labor.)  I tried to sound hopeful back, but something inside me just knew.  When I hung up from her, I turned to Neil and was like, “Ugh, my client just went into labor!”   I knew Joanna and I missed the boat on this one and I was right… Baby V came into this world shortly thereafter.   Though she didn’t sleep but for a few precious minutes during our newborn shoot, I had the tremendous honor of photographing her along with her family.  When I leave a clients home and they feel like friends, I realize why I love my job so much.  xo
