Regan’s Last Day of High School | Columbia Central High School 2014

To say Regan’s last day of high school is a day we’re all eagerly anticipating is a grand understatement.  I don’t know who’s more excited, me or Reg’s.  (Neil and I already have a bottle of champagne chilling in the fridge.  Really.)  It’s been a loooong road for my precious daughter.  Countless fights about poor grades, being disruptive in class, endless nights spent helping her squeak out an overdue assignment or cram for a test that was announced weeks earlier.  I think at this point Reg’s knows I’m over it and have relinquished full control over to her; it’s her time to sink or swim.  Parenting is rough sometimes!  Can I get an amen??

Our newest mantra this past year has been “grades do not define you“, which I wish we would have started at kindergarten.   Because it’s true.  While my daughter might not be a great student right now in her life, it doesn’t mean that will always be the case (it certainly wasn’t with me, who failed out of EMU when I was younger, but went on to graduate with honors, with my bachelors, from SHU as a single mom working a full-time job) but MOST importantly, my daughter is someone I can trust, someone I can count on, someone who I’d want to go on vacation with, someone who makes me laugh and puts me in a good mood, someone who is extremely caring and passionate and perceptive.  School can’t teach that and those are things you need in life more than 1x+5y=56.

Reg’s aspires to be in the creative field and only time will tell where exactly she’ll end up, whether it be photography, fashion design, interior design, or even something like sports medicine!  My very athletic daughter has big dreams and the world is hers for the taking.  Initially she’s planning on heading over to Kalamazoo Valley Community College after graduation for their host of photography, design, and art courses.  It’s a perfect fit and we can hardly wait for her to spread her wings at KVCC and actually immerse herself into something she’s passionate about!

In her honor I wanted to set up a little countdown, to help her stay focused!  Enjoy Regan-Noodle! xoxo  To ALL 2014 seniors, hang in there – it’s almost over!
