I underestimated how difficult this contest would be. There are so many extremely courageous & remarkable people in our community, fighting battles and odds they shouldn’t have to fight. My panel of judges and I had rounds of discussions on ultimately who would be selected for this wonderful give-away, it was NOT an easy decision. I am, however, humbled and honored to announce the winning nominee for my Deserving Family Giveaway. And the winner is… Debbie Chafin!

Debbie is the Aunt of a client and friend of mine, Erika McClain, who shared this story:
Erika wrote, “My aunt Debbie has just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She has been in and out of the hospital for the last 2 years and doctors haven’t been able to diagnose her with anything. Just a few months ago a doctor was able to do so. Sadly the outcome was not good. She has been taking chemo pills over the past few months and she just got news they haven’t been helping her cancer at all. They were hoping that the pills would shrink it or help it go away, but they haven’t.. they just took her off chemo. The doctors can’t operate due to the cancer being wrapped around an artery and they just found out its also in her lymph nodes too. My aunt Debbie has been going through so much and I’m sure she would love this opportunity. She is a wonderful person and she doesn’t deserve to go through this, especially with her being in her 50’s.” In addition to Erika’s Aunt’s health concerns, Erika went on to write, “…[Aunt Debbie’s] husband had just suffered a massive heart attack, one of his arteries was 100% blocked. His doctor said he has no idea how he is still alive.”
