It’s true, this girl is 100% horse crazy. Not much else could motivate her to rise at 6am on a Saturday. Professional hair done before 7:30am (thanks to the incredible Whitney at Scruples in Jackson). Hailey was beyond excited about this special photoshoot.
Hailey, my eldest, celebrates her 21st birthday this month. I know Manistee, her aging fur-baby, has been on her mind a lot, since he celebrates another birthday next month (can you believe he’ll be 27!) With the Farmers Almanac predicting another hard winter, I know she’s worried about him; he dropped so much weight last winter. All year that girl has driven to Napoleon, where we keep him, to feed him a special mixture of horse food goodness. He’s definitely gained which is a huge relief to us all. (Most horse folks like to see their horses on the “husky” side heading into winter.)
I know Hailey will cherish these images for her entire life. I know I will! This girl lights up my day.

ps. You fellow horse folks will notice that yes, we forgot Manistee’s bridle, and didn’t even have a pretty halter/lead rope with us. So you can appreciate knowing that just before I snapped the picture below, Manistee was dancing around like he’d never been ridden before. Gotta love these four-legged children of ours! During the shoot, Hailey and I just rolled our eyes at his naughtiness (you just gotta expect pets to act up at least once during their photoshoot), but inside I was pretty happy to see this old guys fire still burning strong. 😉.jpg)
