This past week we welcomed a new family member to our home. We picked up Mac, aka Big Time Macho, from New Vocations. New Vocations is a non-profit organization committed to finding suitable homes for retired racehorses. (http://www.horseadoption.com/) Mac is a large bay Standardbred who looks black, but his fuzzy soft fur is really dark brown. He’s a total sweetheart and so far he is fitting in very well with his pasture pals. We visited him yesterday afternoon to ride him for the first time. Hailey showed bravery as she clambered up on his 16.3 high back (this boy is TALL!) We didn’t even know if he had ever been ridden down a road before but he was a perfect gentleman the entire 4 mile ride. He’s the first gaited horse we’ve even owned, Hailey said he felt soooo different to ride compared to the other [trotting] horses we’ve ridden.
