Miss Adorable

The unexpected bonus of my job is that I get to meet amazingly interesting people and Michele was one such client.  When she came over for her family portrait consultation, we hit it off instantly.  She is former military officer who currently works as a yoga instructor in Jackson.  We found that we share a mutual passion in keeping things as organic as possible (from food to hair care products).   We chatted into the night – our impromptu GNO!

The day of her family session, I did an inward fist pump when I saw their beautiful daughter from across the lawn.  Miss B, with her golden blonde hair and adorable face with cheeks that I just wanted to squeeeeze!  We took our time getting to know each other, and as it goes sometimes when photographing small children, little Miss B’s internal timer went off before I was able to capture her inner sparkle.  Before we parted ways, with a pit in my stomach, I hinted to Mom and Dad to keep the following weekend open, if possible, “…just in case I didn’t get what I had hoped to capture.”  I cringed at the thought of making them pull it all together again for a re-shoot, but I knew it was inevitable.

We set up our re-takes for the following Saturday.  The skies were overcast (YES!), with a 40% chance of rain (Really?)   We met at my favorite barn at 9am.  Without wasting one minute, I ushered them to the spot I envisioned and began shooting.  Within 10 minutes I knew I captured what I set out to, the pressure was off.  We spent the next 20 minutes capturing some beautifully tender & candid mother/daughter and father/daughter shots.

Precisely 30 minutes after we started, the rain began.  As I packed my gear into the truck, I quietly thanked God for giving me that small window of opportunity; it was all I needed.  Mission.accomplished.

Blessings,
jenn
