My awesome track star

I’m a proud momma, and I love to brag about my girls, so brace yourself or just keep scrolling ’cause it’s about to get mushy!

It’s been awesome to watch Reg’s make sacrifices every day, showing discipline both on and off the field.  Keeping it real here, this girl seems to have to work a lot harder than many kids, academically, so during track season, she’s often climbing into bed at 11 or later after limping through several hours of homework.  In her own words, “I’m a terrible student!”  (She’s not as bad as she thinks she is, but it’s been a rough road her entire school career!)  She’s discouraged and overwhelmed on a daily bases and frankly, hates every minute of it.

So watching her hard work and efforts pay off by the numerous successes she’s experienced on the track has been absolutely awesome to witness!  She’s GOOD at track and it feels good to be good at something!  She needs these successes and she deserves them!  (Sorry, reg’s, if I’m exposing too much of your private life!  I’m sure there’s other parents that can relate.)

Incidentally, (more bragging) she stayed in shape all through the winter, even competed in a few winter track events (a-hem, qualified for States), just to make certain she had a successful spring track season.  Mission. Accomplished.  And the season’s not over yet!

I’m so glad she’s chosen to be part of a team sport and I love the example she sets for the other runners.  I’ve been helping out coaching this season (a total blessing!) and see her consistently put her best foot forward during practice.  It makes my heart beam with pride!  In fact, most all of the kids on the team make me extremely proud by how hard they try, I’ve really grown attached to these kids!  I’m so proud of them!  But more on that later.  I’ll be sure to blog about my experience as their assistant coach – it’s been an honor.

Here’s a few shots of Regan that I captured during the team’s meet at Onsted’s Invitational last week.  The Regional meet is just around the corner – the whole team’s pretty wired for it – we all have high expectations for everyone!  Go Columbia!

Here’s Reg’s keeping out of the sun.

Best friends!  Love you girls!

A few sweet high jump shots.  Clearing the bar with room to spare!
Hurdling like a rock star… Look at that form!  You go girl!
